Glamour mirrors

Glamour mirrors

Glamour mirrors in gilded frames made to measure are defined by one thing: brilliance. Polished real gold leaf, high-gloss lacquers, clean moulding lines, no ornament competing for attention. This section of the shop covers wall mirrors and floor-standing mirrors designed for interiors where the interplay of light and texture matters — glamour living rooms, bedrooms, bright-palette hallways, and bathrooms in which the mirror is meant to be a strong decorative statement.

You will find glamour mirrors in frames water gilded with 22-karat moon gold or more intense 23-karat yellow gold, silvery glamour mirrors in frames gilded with 6-karat white gold (a cool, almost chrome-like tone), and mirrors in glossy black frames combined with an inner band of gilding. Every piece is hand-made in my workshop, sized precisely to your order.

Glamour mirrors in gilded frames — what sets them apart

Real gold leaf is not the same as imitation. My frames use only full-value gold — 22-karat moon gold with its cool, subtly silvery tone, intense 23-karat yellow gold with a warm glow, and 6-karat white gold, which reads almost like chrome. Each variant gives a different character to the interior: 23-karat for classical glamour in a living room, 22-karat moon gold for modern glamour with a cooler palette, 6-karat for minimalist interiors where warm gold would feel out of place.

The technique is traditional water gilding. Gold leaves are laid one by one onto a prepared bole, with controlled overlap and tension. This is the only method that allows later burnishing with an agate stone — and agate burnishing is the only way to achieve the deep, mirror-like polish that glamour gold is known for. No machine can do this work. No gilded foil and no spray-on "gold-look" lacquer comes close to the effect of burnished real gold leaf.

Where glamour mirrors belong

Glamour mirrors come fully alive in rooms with a bright palette and good light. In the living room, a large glamour mirror hung above a fireplace, console, or sofa becomes the dominant compositional element — it reflects the chandelier, multiplies daylight, and visually expands the space. In the bedroom, a mirror in a gold glamour frame above a dressing table or chest of drawers defines a considered grooming zone. In a glamour hallway, the mirror does two jobs at once — practical and representative, the first thing guests see when they cross the threshold.

In the bathroom, glamour mirrors work especially well alongside marble, brass, and high-gloss tiles. For this setting, an optional demister mat is available to prevent condensation on the mirror surface. Reinforced wall brackets are fitted on request for larger formats.

Frame colours and finish options

The category offers glamour mirrors across several palettes:

Mirrors in gold glamour frames — the entire frame gilded, from narrow minimalist rings to wider rounded mouldings. Constant brilliance, no rub-through. For glamour living rooms and hallways, for palatial interiors, and for contemporary luxury schemes.

Mirrors in black glamour frames — high-gloss enamel or polyurethane lacquer, often combined with an inner band of gilding. For modern and industrial interiors, and for high-contrast schemes in which black acts as a confident backdrop for gold.

Mirrors in white glamour frames — off-white with a satin or matt sheen, sometimes with a narrow gilded edge. For Scandinavian-glamour interiors, for bright bedrooms, and for schemes in which the frame should be present but not dominant.

Silvery glamour mirrors — frame gilded with 6-karat white gold, cool and nearly chrome-like in tone, sealed with lacquer or traditional shellac and wax. For minimalist interiors where yellow gold would read as too warm.

Coloured glamour mirrors — red-and-gold, blue-and-gold, green-and-gold, burgundy-and-gold, turquoise-and-gold. The frame is painted in a high-pigmentation craft paint on the front and sides, with a band of gilding along the inner edge. For those who want bold glamour outside the classical gold-and-black palette.

Construction and materials

Every glamour mirror in this category is made to measure. The frame is built from high-quality wood — solid timber, no plywood or laminated layers. Corners are joined with wooden dowels while the frame is still raw, before any paint or gilding is applied. This keeps the joint stable for years — the frame does not crack at the corners, does not open up with changes in humidity, does not warp under its own weight. The back and sides of the frame are always finished in the same colour and finish as the front — a detail that distinguishes a handcrafted frame from a factory one.

The glass is SGG Miralite Pure Diamant 4 mm, OptiWhite — a pane with an exceptionally clean, neutral tone, free of the greenish cast typical of cheaper mirrors. The black coating on the reverse stabilises the reflection and allows optional LED backlight installation. Backing is HDF or MDF depending on size. Mounting is via wall brackets.

Optional features

Most glamour models are available with a ground bevel — an edge refinement up to 20 mm wide (around 5 mm of which is hidden under the frame rebate, so the effective visible band is roughly 15 mm). The bevel adds depth, subtly refracts light, and works especially well in the glamour category, where brilliance is central. On request, I also fit anti-fog demister mats for bathroom glamour mirrors and perimeter LED backlighting.

Ordering and personalisation

Every glamour mirror in this category can be ordered in any dimension. Finish is also personalisable — the frame colour is selected from my in-house palette of over 100 high-pigmentation craft paints, alongside the gilding type (22-karat moon gold, 23-karat yellow gold, 6-karat white gold, palladium, genuine silver leaf) and the lacquer sheen (high gloss, semi-matt, matt). Both wall-mounted glamour mirrors (portrait or landscape) and larger floor-standing pieces are available.

Lead time depends on size and finish complexity — I confirm the details individually once the order is placed. If you are looking for a specific model outside the selection currently shown in the shop, send me a message and I will prepare a frame and finish proposal tailored to your interior, together with a quote.

The dimensions shown for each product cover the mirror complete with its frame. The moulding width is given in each individual product description. All mirrors are made to measure — after the order is placed, I confirm the final dimensions by email.
