A classic mirror in a black frame made of solid wood, hand-finished with deep-gloss lacquer or in a semi-matt variant. Profiled 75 mm moulding, corners joined with wooden dowels. SGG Miralite Pure Diamant 4 mm OptiWhite glass. Mirror made to measure.

A classic mirror in a black frame in which a calm, profiled moulding meets the depth of a lacquered surface. The high-gloss version reacts to light almost like enamel — the edges of the frame take on a soft, mirror-like draw and reinforce the presence of the glass itself. The semi-matt version quietens reflections, renders the black in a more restrained way and works better with intimate, low-key lighting. Decorative mirrors of this kind suit a living room, dining room, bedroom or hallway equally well — anywhere a black surround is meant to organise the composition of a wall. We make every mirror to measure, from solid, high-quality wood, in a fully craft-based process.

Where it fits

A black surround is one of the most versatile choices — it works in modern interiors with minimalist joinery, concrete and large glazing, as well as in classical settings with mouldings, panelling and walls in ivory, powdery beige or bottle green. The high-gloss variant pairs naturally with marble, glass and metals in black or brass finishes. The semi-matt option settles into rooms with deeply saturated wall colours and warm-toned woods. Wall-mounted decorative mirrors of this format work above a hallway console, a bedroom dresser or a fireplace, while in larger sizes the same model functions as a leaning floor mirror in a dressing room, study or bedroom.

Craftsmanship

The frame is made of high-quality solid wood, mitred and joined at the corners with wooden dowels. This keeps the structure stable and resistant to deformation over years of use. Traditional craft techniques ensure the durability and elegance of every piece. The moulding has a softly rounded front and a defined inner edge — that profile is what produces the play of light, especially visible in the high-gloss finish. The surface is built up from successive coats of lacquer, with intermediate sanding between each one. The black gains depth that holds reflections of the room around it, while the edges keep a sharp, decisive line. The sides and inner edge of the frame are painted in the same finish as the front, so the frame reads as a coherent piece from every angle, including the side view.

How this frame differs from mass production

Mass-produced mirrors in black frames are usually made from MDF profiles wrapped in foil with a flat, uniform front. In daylight the matte texture of the foil and the rigid line of the edges give them away. Here the moulding is wood, profiled, lacquered in multiple coats to build a deep surface, and the corners are joined with wooden dowels rather than metal staples. Every piece is made individually and keeps the small, natural variation typical of hand work. The same model is also available as a leaning floor mirror — in larger sizes a black leaning mirror works particularly well in a bedroom, dressing room or hallway.

Function

SGG Miralite Pure Diamant 4 mm OptiWhite glass gives a true reflection without the greenish tint of standard mirror glass. The black coating on the reverse blocks light and makes any future LED installation easier. The mirror is ready to hang — the wall brackets are fitted vertically or horizontally according to the choice made at order. An HDF backing (used for smaller sizes) or MDF (for larger ones) protects the rear of the glass. The lacquered finish of the frame is moisture-resistant, so the mirror is also suitable for the bathroom — including above a basin, where it functions as both a decorative and a practical wall-mounted mirror.

Option: bevelled mirror

A ground bevel is available up to 20 mm wide; about 5 mm sits hidden under the rebate of the frame, so the visible facet is around 15 mm. It introduces an additional refraction of light along the edge of the glass and gives the room a jewel-like accent that is particularly readable in side light. Bevelling is available on both 4 mm and 5 mm glass.

Option: 5 mm OptiWhite glass

An upgrade for connoisseurs. Thicker glass gives a heavier, more stable reflection and a stronger physical presence within the frame — particularly relevant in larger formats, where the mirror takes the role of the main feature of a wall. All other glass parameters (OptiWhite, black coating on the reverse) remain the same.

Optional: anti-fog mirror with heating mat

A heating mat fitted to the reverse of the glass prevents the mirror from fogging up in the bathroom after a shower or bath. Specifications need to be agreed individually — please get in touch before placing the order.

Personalisation and made-to-measure orders

Every mirror is built to a specific size. The frame can be ordered in a high-gloss or semi-matt finish, in classic black or in another colour from our in-house range of high-pigment craft paints — among others bottle green, navy, white or restrained greys. Bevel, glass thickness and anti-fog mat are also part of the configuration. If you have a reference of your own — a wall colour, a paint sample, a photograph of the interior — we are happy to match the finish to the rest of the scheme. For any questions please get in touch by e-mail or phone before placing the order. Lead time is 20–30 working days from the moment all parameters are confirmed.

Beveled glass edge 25 mm.

In addition we can add glass with 25 mm or custom width bevel.
