I make gold leaf picture frames to measure in my one-person workshop in Czarna Białostocka, Poland, drawing on ten years working in London. I gild each frame by hand, with a choice of warm yellow, pale moon or white gold. Start with the profile and finish that suit your artwork, then open the model to check its specifications and enter your size.

Choose a profile for your artwork
A narrow profile gives a restrained border; a wider or shaped moulding makes the frame more prominent. Compare the narrow 23K gold leaf frame with the wider antique-style gilded frame. For a canvas, check the rebate depth, the recess that holds the work, against the thickness of your stretcher.
When choosing gold leaf frames for paintings, consider the colours, texture and scale of the work. A photograph and the artwork dimensions help me suggest suitable proportions.
Choose the gold tone and finish
- 23K yellow gold: a warm, rich yellow tone.
- 22K moon gold: a paler, cooler gold with a silvery cast.
- 12K white gold: a cool white-metal tone.
- 6K white gold: a pale, silver-like finish.
I lay the leaf by hand over a coloured clay ground, called bole. Burnishing and selective rubbing back let me adjust the sheen and reveal the colour beneath. Ask me about a brighter, softer or aged finish for your chosen model.
This collection focuses on frames with a fully leafed face. Silver leaf and palladium leaf models are also listed, with the metal identified in each description. For gilding combined with painted panels, browse my gilded and painted picture frames. Check each model for its side finish.
Order the right size and framing options
For a stretched canvas or a painting on board, enter the actual width and height of the work in the Picture size fields, in centimetres. These are artwork dimensions, not the outside dimensions of the finished frame. I allow for fitting clearance, so please do not add extra yourself.
For a work on paper with a mount, contact me first to confirm the overall mounted size. I quote glazing, mounts, spacers and backing separately. Read about my archival framing options for prints, watercolours and photographs. UV-filtering glazing helps reduce UV exposure, but light levels and display conditions still matter.
The price per metre shown on a product page is the moulding rate, rather than a quote for a complete framing package. If the calculator does not accept your size, or you need a different finish, ask me for an individual quote.
Questions before ordering
Are these antique frames?
I make every frame to order. The antique-style models are newly made frames with traditional profiles and an aged finish.
Can I change the gold or finish?
Ask me about the finish you have in mind. I will confirm the available options and quote for any changes to the chosen model.
Are glass and backing included?
I quote glass, mounts, spacers and archival backing separately. Please tell me whether you need the frame alone or a complete framing package.
Will the gilding keep exactly the same colour?
The way a surface ages depends on the metal, finish and conditions. Gold alloys containing more silver can tarnish. I can advise on finishing and care for your chosen leaf.
How long will my frame take?
Check the lead-time information on the product page and contact me before ordering if you have a deadline. I will confirm the timing for your particular frame.
Ask me about your frame
For custom gold leaf frames, send me the model name or link, a photograph of the work, its width, height and thickness, and your preferred gold tone. Tell me whether you need glazing, a mount or backing, along with the delivery country and any deadline. Contact me for advice and a quote.
