Large-format paintings – deep frame and precise fit

When designing frames for paintings with different constructions, I always think about how the canvas “breathes.” Paintings stretched on a stretcher bar have their own volume and require a specific approach. That’s why I also design frames for canvases that ensure stability and provide the artwork with the right amount of space between the edge of the painting and the moulding.

In practice, this means that every frame for large-format paintings or smaller gallery frames has a precisely designed rebate — so that the painting is neither too tightly fitted nor too loose. This is how made-to-measure frames are created, perfectly adjusted to the thickness of the stretcher bar. It’s a solution that guarantees not only safety but also visual balance.

I often suggest to my clients different frame designs that help create a sense of depth — especially for oil or acrylic paintings. In such constructions, what matters is not only the form itself but also the harmony between light, shadow, and texture.
That’s why many of my projects are frames with a distinctive style — unique pieces tailored to the specific needs of the artist.

For large-scale canvases, I also use durable materials that provide structural stability even for heavy stretcher bars. As a result, the frame becomes more than just a border — it becomes a supporting structure for the artwork itself.

When creating different types of frames, I always remember that it’s the right profile and precise dimensions that determine how the painting “sits” within the frame. It may seem like a technical detail, but for me, it’s the essence of craftsmanship — a detail that decides whether the framing truly enhances the beauty of the painting.

Format, Proportion, and Frame Design – Why Construction Matters

Proportion is the foundation of every good frame. Large canvases require solid construction — that’s why I design frames for large-format paintings that ensure both stability and aesthetic balance.
For smaller works, more delicate forms work better. My offer includes frames in various sizes, created from perfectly matched wooden mouldings.

What matters is not only the size but also the finish of the frame. Frames with different patterns and accents allow the desired individual effect to be achieved.
It’s precisely this carefully chosen frame that determines whether a painting gains the right depth and harmony.
