The given dimensions cover the entire mirror including the frame. The moulding width is 72 mm and is fixed — it cannot be changed by the customer.

How it is made

The frame is made of quality wood. The corners are joined with wooden dowels — this gives the frame stability and keeps it resistant to warping over many years of use. Traditional craft techniques ensure the durability and elegance of every piece. The wide, flat panel is hand-painted in black, with subtle distressing along the edges. The panel and the sides of the frame are always painted in the same colour as the face, so the piece looks finished from every angle, including when seen from below.

The inner edge — a band roughly 20 mm wide — is hand-prepared and gilded with genuine 12-karat white gold leaf. The gold is laid leaf by leaf, and the top layer is gently distressed, with the wear revealing warm, reddish highlights glowing beneath the silvery gold. The whole frame is then protected with a natural resin patina and pigmented wax, which fix the finish and deepen the colour. The result is a frame with a living, handcrafted character — no two pieces are identical.

What makes this frame different from mass production

Mass-produced black frames are typically spray-painted in a single flat colour, without patina and without a gilded detail. This frame is made differently — every step, from preparing the wood, through hand-painting the panel, to laying the gold leaf and applying the wax patina, is done by hand. No two pieces are the same. Both wall-hung and standing mirrors are available in the collection, made with the same technique and the same materials.

Functionality

The mirror is prepared for wall-hanging — wall brackets are included. The back of the frame is MDF, which stabilises the glass and protects it from behind. The standard SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm OptiWhite glass gives true colour reproduction, a neutral reflection tone and good resistance to moisture under typical conditions of use.

Option: mirror with a bevel

On request, the mirror glass can be finished with a ground bevel up to 20 mm wide. The bevel softly catches light along the edge of the mirror and adds a refined touch — recommended for classic and modern-classic interiors.

Additional option: anti-fog mirror with a heating mat (demister)

If the mirror is going into a bathroom, a heating mat can be installed behind the glass to prevent water vapour condensing on the surface. This option is available for this model — please get in touch with your mirror size and the option will be added to the size list. For humid rooms we also recommend sealing the frame with an additional coat of lacquer.

Personalisation and made-to-measure orders

This mirror in a black wooden frame is made to measure — you give us the full dimensions of the piece including the frame, and we prepare the mirror to fit your interior. A wider or deeper frame than the standard version is also possible. Apart from the black panel with 12-karat white gold, the frame is available in other colour finishes and with other types of gold leaf — including yellow gold and 22-karat moon gold. Any change is agreed with you individually before production. Once the specification is approved, we begin work; the lead time depends on current workshop capacity and the size of the order.
