Mirror in a wide black frame, solid wood construction, 120 mm moulding with a satin lacquer finish. Also available in dark green. Handcrafted and made to measure.

A mirror in a black frame with a 120 mm moulding is a clear, confident wall feature. The wide profile, built from solid wood and finished in satin lacquer, sets a strong, uninterrupted line around the mirror glass and turns the piece into a proper decorative object — not just a utility. The frame is available in two standard colours, selectable in the product options: black and dark green. Each mirror in a black frame is made to measure, so the dimensions are set to fit a specific wall rather than a catalogue size.

Where this mirror fits

A wide black frame works best in rooms with a clear, disciplined palette. Against pale plaster or white walls, the dark frame sharpens the geometry of the space and anchors the wall composition. In darker rooms — greys, graphites, warm browns — the frame integrates with the background while the satin finish catches light in soft, restrained highlights, without harsh reflections.

The dark green version pairs naturally with interiors that mix wood, brass, and deep-coloured textiles — it sits well in both classical living rooms and modern schemes built around earthy, saturated palettes.

Typical placements:

  • living room — above a console, sideboard, or sofa
  • hallway and corridor — a large format opens up narrow spaces
  • dining room — a counterpoint to natural-material furniture
  • bedroom — above a dresser, or as a standing floor mirror in a corner
  • commercial spaces: boutiques, restaurants, hotel receptions, private offices

Construction — a solid wood frame

The frame is built from solid wood in our workshop. With a 120 mm moulding, precision matters at every step — every section is fitted before the frame is assembled.

Corners are joined with wooden dowels. This keeps the structure stable and prevents warping over years of use. It is the same joinery method used in traditional frame-making for large formats — and with a moulding this wide, dowel joints matter more, because a heavy mass of wood moves more than a thin profile.

Once assembled, the moulding is sanded and painted with a curated, richly pigmented paint range. The front panel and the sides of the frame are painted in the same colour, so the frame reads consistently from every angle — including when it stands away from a wall. A satin lacquer seals the surface, giving a deep, soft sheen without sharp reflections and holding up to everyday cleaning.

How this differs from mass production

Wide black mirror frames on the high street are usually aluminium profile or MDF with a foil wrap. They come in fixed catalogue sizes and 20–40 mm profiles — several times narrower than this moulding.

This frame is 120 mm wide, in solid wood, hand-sanded and hand-painted. Each mirror is produced in a single run, against a specific order. Three practical differences follow from that:

  1. Dimensions follow your wall, not a catalogue. You can order the mirror in a black frame in any format — from compact to a large black framed mirror over 2 m tall.
  2. The colour can be matched to the interior — beyond standard black and dark green, other shades from the paint range are available.
  3. The whole build — frame, glass, backing, hardware — is done in one workshop and checked at every stage.

The workshop offers both wall-mounted mirrors and standing floor mirrors in wide frames. Both work well at large scale — the rigidity of a 120 mm moulding carries very long constructions without flex.

Functionality

The mirror comes with wall brackets — vertical or horizontal mounting, depending on the room layout and the preferred orientation. A 67 mm moulding depth and an MDF backing give a rigid, stable structure even in large formats.

The OptiWhite 4 mm mirror glass has a neutral tone — no green tint, no yellow cast that cheaper float mirrors show. The rear protective coating is moisture-resistant, which means the mirror performs in a bathroom or a powder room — the painted, lacquered frame holds up in high-humidity conditions, provided there is a reasonable distance from direct shower spray. That makes it a full interior piece, not a mirror limited to the living room.

Made to measure

Every mirror is built to order. You can select a standard size from the product options, enter your own dimensions, or write to the workshop with your interior project — we will match the frame and glass proportions to the specific wall.

Standard colours are black and dark green. On request, the frame can be painted in any shade from our curated paint range — from earth tones to deep navy. The sheen level — matt, semi-matt, satin, or full gloss — is also specified at the order stage, depending on how the frame should read against the surrounding interior.

Lead time is confirmed individually after the order is placed. Send us reference images or interior plans by email — they help us match the finish to the rest of the scheme.
