Frame hand-made and gilded with genuine 23-karat gold leaf on the face, with contrasting satin-black sides. SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm, OptiWhite mirror glass. Made to measure.
This modern gold framed mirror pairs a hand-gilded 23-karat face with satin-black sides — a two-tone moulding designed for interiors where precision of form matters as much as the richness of material. The front of the frame is laid leaf by leaf with genuine 23-karat gold, while the sides are finished in deep satin black. The result is a sharp, confident contour that reads as contemporary rather than ornamental. The mirror glass is SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm, OptiWhite — clear, neutral, and free of the greenish cast of standard mirrors. A quietly decorative piece for rooms where craftsmanship is meant to be noticed, not announced.
Where it belongs
The frame suits modern classic and refined-glamour interiors as well as minimalist rooms that welcome a single, deliberate accent. The black sides anchor the frame on pale walls — white, cream, warm grey, sandy beige — while the gilded face adds a warm reflection that shifts with the light. The mirror works well above a console or fireplace in the living room, as a focal point in the hallway, above a vanity in the bedroom, and in the dining room where it reflects the light of the pendant over the table. With the optional demister pad, it performs equally well as a bathroom mirror. The frame also pairs naturally with marble, brass, and dark-wood furniture in simple geometries.

How it is made
Each frame is built by hand from the ground up. The solid-wood moulding is cut and joined at the corners with wooden dowels before any finishing is applied — a traditional method that keeps the frame dimensionally stable for decades. The frame is then hand-sanded, primed, and painted to a smooth, receptive surface. The face is gilded with genuine 23-karat gold leaf, laid leaf by leaf. 23-karat gold holds its warm, intense lustre and does not lose its shine over the years — unlike frames finished with dutch metal, which dulls and darkens over time. Once the gilding is complete, the whole frame — gilded face, black sides, and back panel — is sealed with a protective lacquer. Traditional craft techniques guarantee durability and elegance in every piece.
What sets this frame apart
Mass-produced frames are built from laminated mouldings wrapped in gold-coloured foil or finished with metallic paint. At a glance the effect can look similar, but after a few months the surface tells another story: the foil cracks at the edges, the metallic paint flattens into a cold tone. This frame is another object altogether — solid wood, hand-joined corners, real gold applied leaf by leaf. It is not an imitation of gilding; it is the real technique, with every layer doing real work. The collection also includes other wall mirrors and standing mirrors in the same aesthetic register, adapted to different room formats.
Function
The mirror is fitted with wall brackets that allow vertical or horizontal mounting, to suit the proportions of the wall. The MDF backing keeps the glass firmly seated in the frame. The 4 mm OptiWhite glass gives a true-to-life reflection, without the greenish cast that flattens colour on ordinary mirrors — the difference is most visible in rooms with warm, darker palettes, where a standard mirror can shift the appearance of walls and furniture. The protective lacquer on the frame increases the surface's resistance to moisture and minor scratches, which makes the mirror suitable for bathrooms too.
Option: ground bevel
On request, the mirror glass can be finished with a ground bevel up to 20 mm wide (about 15 mm visible once the rebate is taken into account). The bevel adds a subtle refraction of light along the edge of the glass and reinforces the decorative character of the mirror without softening the modern line of the frame.
Option: anti-fog heating pad
In the bathroom version, a demister pad can be mounted behind the glass. The pad prevents condensation on the surface, which is particularly useful in bathrooms without mechanical ventilation and in shower areas.
Customisation and made-to-measure order
Every mirror is produced as an individual commission. The client chooses the outer dimensions and the finishing variants: four gold-leaf karats are available (23K — warm and intense; 22-karat moon gold — softer, with a cooler, subtly paler tone; 12K; 6K — almost chrome), alternative side colours (instead of black: cream, graphite, burgundy, bottle green, navy, and more than one hundred tones from our in-house range of high-pigment paints with a distinct artisan character), and the sheen of the surface — gloss, satin, or matte. Lead time depends on the format and the chosen finish and is confirmed after enquiry. A picture frame or mirror made to measure in this moulding can be tailored to any window, alcove, or wall format — a detail that interior designers and architectural studios working at high finish standards tend to appreciate.
