Mirror in a black frame with Flemish corners, joined with wooden dowels from high-quality wood. The inner band is hand-gilded in genuine 6-karat white gold leaf on plum bole. SGG Miralite 4 mm, OptiWhite glass. Made to measure; gold leaf (6K, 12K, 22-karat moon, 23-karat) and bole shade are configurable
A mirror in a black frame with Flemish corners is made for people who want a decorative mirror with a clear presence — one that combines a classical silhouette with a contemporary interior. Stepped Flemish corners, a deep black panel, and a cool inner band of 6-karat white gold leaf create a composition that defines a room — whether it is a hallway, entrance, bedroom, or dressing area. SGG Miralite 4 mm, OptiWhite mirror glass delivers a clean, neutral reflection without the greenish tint of standard glass, so the mirror works equally well as a decorative wall piece and as a practical full-length mirror in the entryway or wardrobe zone.
Where it fits
The satin-black frame with its lighter inner band sits well in modern classic, glamour, British and hotel-style interiors. On light, neutral walls — off-white, cream, beige, sand, dove grey — the frame reads as a strong graphic accent. On darker walls — charcoal, graphite, deep green, navy — the frame gains depth and the white gold band subtly catches the light.
The vertical 70×170 cm format suits the hallway and entrance as a full-length wall mirror, the bedroom near a wardrobe, the living room above a console, and formal dining rooms or studies. With the right wall fixing, a mirror of this size can also be leaned against the wall as a floor-standing piece — a common arrangement in bedrooms and dressing rooms.

Craftsmanship
Each frame is built from scratch in the workshop. Every stage — preparing the moulding, shaping the Flemish corners, applying the gold leaf — is done by hand. The high-quality wood core is joined with wooden dowels, which keep the corners stable and resistant to warping for years. There are no visible joins: the corners close cleanly.
The frame is then painted in layers to a satin-matt black finish and sealed with protective lacquer. The panel and sides of the frame are painted in the same colour as the front, so the piece reads consistently when viewed from an angle. The inner band — the cool, almost chrome-like accent — is hand-gilded in genuine 6-karat white gold leaf, laid sheet by sheet onto a prepared bole (the coloured layer beneath the gold that sets the warmth or coolness of the finish). The standard bole under 6K white gold is plum, which shows through the cool metal as a softly muted undertone.
The 100 mm × 35 mm moulding makes the frame assertive rather than discreet — it anchors the wall and behaves as its own piece of furniture. The Flemish corners introduce a stepped transition that breaks the rectangle and gives the frame a sculpted, classical presence.
What sets this frame apart from mass production
Most mass-market mirrors in a black frame are made from foil-wrapped MDF mouldings that imitate black and gold. At a glance they read correctly, but up close the "gold" band is a print or a thin metallic foil. In our workshop the same effect is built from real wood and real gold leaf — the inner band is a physical, hand-laid layer of metal, not a graphic. It ages differently than foil: the softened highlights on the corners are not a defect but the natural way the surface matures.
This frame is offered both as a standard wall mirror (with brackets for vertical or horizontal hanging) and as a leaning floor mirror — particularly effective in larger rooms.
Functionality
The mirror hangs on wall brackets that allow both vertical and horizontal orientation. The MDF backing stabilises the frame and protects the reverse of the glass. SGG Miralite 4 mm, OptiWhite mirror glass gives a clean, neutral reflection — important in entryways where a full-body check of the outfit is part of the mirror's function.
The protective lacquer makes the frame suitable for commercial interiors — hotels, boutiques, salons, and studies. For bathroom installations with higher humidity, please contact the workshop: we use a polyurethane lacquer for bathroom pieces instead of the standard finish.
Option: mirror with a bevel
The glass can be finished with a ground bevel up to 20 mm wide (about 5 mm of the bevel is hidden under the rebate, so the visually effective width is around 15 mm). The bevel introduces a subtle play of light along the edge of the mirror and reinforces the classical character of the frame. Available on 4 mm glass and on 5 mm OptiWhite — a premium upgrade for connoisseurs.
Additional option: anti-fog mirror with a heating mat
For installations in high-humidity rooms (bathrooms, spa areas), the mirror can be fitted with a heating mat (demister) that keeps the surface warmer than the surrounding air and prevents fogging. Because the electrical parameters and mounting position need to be specified individually, this option is arranged by direct contact with the workshop.
Gilding personalisation: gold colour and bole shade
This frame is a configurable product. The client chooses two gilding parameters:
Gold leaf colour — pricing is identical across all four options:
- 6-karat white gold — cool, almost chrome-like, closer to silver than gold; the base variant of this product, shown in the main photos
- 12-karat gold — slightly greenish, still cool, with a more visible yellow presence than 6K
- 22-karat moon gold — cool and subtly silvery, clearly paler than classic 23-karat yellow
- 23-karat gold — warm, intensely yellow, with the longest-lasting lustre; the classical gold of traditional gilding
Bole shade — bole is the layer beneath the gold that determines the colour showing through the subtle burnished areas after polishing. It changes the temperature of the finish without changing the gold itself. Under 6K white gold we use a plum bole as standard (a cool, softly muted effect). Nine bole shades are available — including plum, red, grey, yellow, green, and neutral tones. If you are unsure which combination will suit your interior, please contact the workshop before ordering; we advise on the basis of room photos or fabric samples.
Personalisation and made-to-measure orders
Every mirror in this collection is made to order, to the exact dimensions you specify. Nothing is taken from stock — production starts after the order is placed, which means the frame can be fitted to its installation space to the millimetre. Beyond the gold and bole configuration, the panel colour can be changed from black to any shade from our in-house range of high-pigmentation craft paints. We can also match the finish to a specific interior project — simply send photos, links, or a colour sample.
Standard lead time: 20–45 business days. During peak seasons please contact the workshop in advance to confirm the delivery window.
