How it is made

The frame is hand-made from high-quality solid wood. Lengths are cut to size and the corners are joined with wooden dowels, which gives the construction long-term stability and resistance to warping. Once assembled, the entire frame — front and sides in the same colour — is painted black, then hand-gilded with 6-karat white gold leaf laid sheet by sheet along the inner edge of the profile. White gold 6K has a cool, silvery tone that sits beautifully against the black frame and works equally well within neutral contemporary palettes. The surface is finally sealed with a moisture-resistant lacquer. The stepped profile of the moulding adds depth and presence without making the frame feel heavy. Traditional craft techniques ensure the durability and elegance of every piece.

How this frame differs from mass production

Mass-produced frames are typically made from layered profiles, spray-painted and finished with metallic foil. This frame is built differently — from cutting the wood, through dowel joinery, to hand painting and hand-applied white gold leaf. Every piece is made to order in the size agreed with the customer. The workshop offers both wall-mounted and standing mirrors built using the same methods.

Functionality

Wall brackets fitted to the back of the frame allow the mirror to be hung either vertically or horizontally. The MDF backing keeps the structure rigid and protects the glass. The standard SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm OptiWhite mirror glass gives a clean, neutral, colour-accurate reflection. The protective lacquer on the frame is moisture-resistant, so the mirror is also suitable for bathroom use.

Bevel option

On request, the mirror can be supplied with a bevelled edge — 5 mm OptiWhite glass with a polished bevel running around the perimeter, adding a subtle decorative refraction of light.

Anti-fog demister option

For bathroom installations, an anti-fog heating mat can be fitted to the back of the glass to prevent the mirror from misting up after a shower or bath.

Personalisation and made-to-measure orders

Every mirror is made to order — the customer specifies the outer dimensions including the frame. Alternative frame colours and other types of leaf gilding are also available: 23-karat gold, 22-karat moon gold or 12-karat lemon gold. References, colour samples or photos of the interior can be sent before the order is placed, so the mirror matches the existing scheme. Lead time is agreed individually depending on size and finish.
