Vintage mirror in an antique silver frame. Hand-built solid wood moulding, leafed with genuine silver and gently distressed by hand. Made to measure in any size.
Antico Silver is a vintage mirror in an antique silver frame, where heritage aesthetics meet workshop precision. The substantial moulding is built from solid wood, hand-leafed with genuine silver and gently distressed by hand, giving each piece a character that machine-finished mouldings simply cannot reproduce. This model belongs to a family of decorative mirrors made to measure — designed for a specific wall, a specific room, a specific set of proportions.
Where it works best
Antico Silver is at its strongest in interiors that combine classic architecture with restraint — modern classic, French country, Scandinavian rustic, and considered vintage schemes — but it is equally interesting in modern, pared-back rooms, where the richly worked frame becomes the single decorative accent against a quiet background. It pairs beautifully with walls in cream, off-white, warm beige, soft grey, deep navy and bottle green. The mirror suits hallways, living rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms alike, and in larger sizes it becomes the central anchor of a wall composition.

How it is made
Each frame is built in the workshop from solid wood. Corner joints use wooden dowels, which keeps the geometry of the moulding stable and resistant to warping over years of use. Once assembled, the frame is sanded, painted and prepared for silvering. Genuine silver leaves are then laid one by one, using traditional craft techniques, and the surface is carefully distressed by hand — bringing out the profile of the moulding and letting the deeper recesses take on cooler, almost leaden tones. A protective lacquer fixes the finish and makes the mirror suitable for rooms with raised humidity. The face, sides and inner panel of the frame are all finished in the same palette, so the moulding looks complete from every angle. Traditional craft techniques ensure the durability and elegance of every single piece.
What sets this frame apart from mass production
Unlike mouldings poured from a mould, Antico Silver never looks the same twice. Every batch of leaf settles differently on the profile, every distressed mark has its own rhythm, and the wood grain remains visible beneath the finish — quietly defining the character of the frame. This is a frame for people who want an object made by hand rather than cast in a factory line. The model is offered as a wall mirror, and in larger formats also as a leaning floor mirror, where the substantial profile gives the whole composition extra visual stability.
Function
The mirror hangs on wall brackets and can be mounted vertically or horizontally — orientation is chosen at the order stage. An HDF backing closes the construction from behind and protects the glass. The SGG Miralite Pure Diamant 4 mm pane in OptiWhite technology provides neutral colour reproduction with no greenish cast — the reflection looks natural in daylight and under warm evening light. The protective lacquer on the frame allows the mirror to be used in bathrooms as well.
Option: ground bevel
A ground bevel up to 20 mm wide can be added around the perimeter of the glass. The bevel introduces an extra rhythm at the edge of the mirror and gently catches the light — paired with the substantial silvered moulding, the effect is particularly pronounced.
Option: 5 mm OptiWhite glass
For those who appreciate the finest details, a thicker 5 mm OptiWhite pane is available. The greater glass thickness allows for a more decisive bevel angle, and the pane itself takes on a deeper, more substantial presence.
Optional extra: anti-fog mirror with heating mat
For bathroom installations, the mirror can be fitted with a heating mat that prevents the glass from misting up after a shower or bath. The mat connects to the mains and remains completely invisible from the room side.
Customisation and made-to-measure orders
Every Antico Silver mirror is built individually to the customer's exact dimensions. On the product page you can specify any external frame size to match a chosen wall. On request, finishing variants are available: a different degree of distressing, a cooler or warmer tone of silver, more pronounced or more subtle ageing. This model is part of a wider collection that also includes mirrors in other frame colours and decorative styles ranging from classic to glamour. If you are unsure about size or finish, please get in touch directly — I will help match proportions and tone to your specific interior.
