Nero Glam Mirror in a Green and Gold Frame – 23-Karat Gold Leaf

The Nero Glam mirror in a green and gold frame is a strikingly decorative piece in glamour style: lacquered bottle green at high gloss, with three concentric gold rings hand-laid in real 23-karat gold leaf. The frame is hand-made and water gilded, paired with a high-clarity mirror glass. A made-to-measure decorative mirror that doubles as a sculptural feature on the wall.

The high-gloss green almost reads like enamel, so the piece is at its best in well-lit spaces: above a console in the living room, over a sideboard in the dining room, or as a statement greeting in the entrance hall.

The green-and-gold frame works in strong contrast against cream, beige, soft grey and warm-white walls. It pairs naturally with marble (especially white-and-grey or Verde Alpi green), walnut and oak, and brass or gilded fittings. Above a dressing table, a sideboard, or – with the optional anti-fog mat – a bathroom vanity, the mirror anchors the room.

Craftsmanship

The frame is built from high-quality, kiln-dried solid wood, which keeps the structure stable even in larger formats. The corners are joined with wooden dowels before any finishing work begins – a traditional joinery method that resists warping and ensures the frame holds its shape for decades.

Once the frame is assembled, the gilded sections are coated in red bole – a traditional ground for water gilding – and then leafed with real 23-karat gold. Individual leaves measure roughly 80 × 80 mm; on the narrow rings they are additionally cut on a gilder's pad with a special knife. 23-karat gold keeps its full depth of colour for decades – the radiance does not fade with time.

The green sections are painted in multiple layers and finished with a high-gloss lacquer. The face, the inner panel and the sides of the frame are painted in the same colour, so the bottle green reads consistently from every angle. The moulding profile follows a clear "gold–green–gold–green–gold" rhythm, especially visible at an angle, where the layers catch the light one after another.

How it differs from mass production

Serial glamour mirror frames are typically moulded from polyurethane foam or duropolymer, then covered with wood-grain foil or sprayed with metallic paint. There is no solid wood, no real gold leaf, and no dowel-jointed corners. Up close the difference in colour depth and gilding quality is immediately visible – particularly with a high-gloss finish, which exposes every imperfection of the substrate.

In a workshop the frame is built from wood, hand-sanded between layers of paint and lacquer, and gilded leaf by leaf. Every piece carries small individual marks: a slight patina, a particular pattern of reflections on the gold rings, the trace of a hand at work. The Nero Glam is also available as a wall mirror or a freestanding piece – both built to measure.

Function

The mirror hangs on wall brackets fixed to the HDF backing (MDF for larger formats); it can be mounted vertically or horizontally. The SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm glass with OptiWhite technology gives a neutral, true-to-colour reflection without the greenish cast of standard mirror glass. The reflective coating is precisely sealed at the back, which also allows for an LED installation behind the glass if desired.

Option: bevelled mirror

A ground bevel up to 20 mm wide is available. Approximately 5 mm of the bevel sits under the frame rabbet, leaving roughly 15 mm visible – enough for an additional line of refracted light at the transition between the frame and the glass. A subtle but recognisable upgrade for clients who appreciate classical detailing.

Option: anti-fog heating mat

For bathroom installations the Nero Glam can be supplied with an anti-fog heating mat fitted behind the glass and wired to the mains. The mat keeps the surface clear after a hot shower and remains entirely invisible from the front.

Personalisation and made-to-measure orders

Every mirror is made individually to your dimensions and interior. The Nero Glam line is available in the following gilding variants:

• 23-karat yellow gold leaf (as pictured)
• 22-karat moon gold leaf – cooler, slightly silvery tone
• 12-karat or 6-karat white gold leaf – cool, almost chrome-like finish
• palladium or genuine silver leaf – sealed with traditional shellac and wax, or with a protective lacquer

The green lacquer is offered as standard in a high-gloss finish; on request we also produce a satin-matte version. The frame colour itself can be drawn from a curated, richly pigmented paint range – over a hundred artisanal shades. Quotations are prepared individually based on the requested dimensions; lead times are agreed on a per-order basis.
