Hand-made and gilded with real 23-karat gold leaf. Half-round moulding profile, 40 mm wide. Each mirror made to measure, up to 180 cm in height.
A mirror in a gold frame, glamour style — a decorative element for modern interiors that combines the warm reflection of 23-karat gold with the clean rectangular geometry of the frame. The narrow 40 mm moulding with a half-round profile catches light evenly, so the frame reads as a continuous ribbon of gold rather than a heavy classical surround. Made to measure to the exact dimensions of the wall it will hang on.
Where it fits
The frame works well in modern interiors finished in beige, cream and warm grey palettes, as well as in darker spaces — deep green, navy or anthracite walls — where gold becomes a strong accent of light. It suits living rooms, bedrooms, dressing rooms and hallways: anywhere a clean line and warm material work together. In bathrooms with timber or stone surfaces it complements the natural palette. In glamour interiors it sits naturally with upholstered furniture, mirrored finishes and metallic detail, but it also reads well in minimalist arrangements as a single luminous accent. A large mirror in a gold frame — made to measure up to 180 cm in height — works as a full-height element next to a console, in a dressing room or in an entrance hall.

Craftsmanship
The frame is hand-made and gilded with real 23-karat gold leaf using traditional water gilding — gold leaf laid onto a hand-prepared surface with a water-based binder, the same technique historically used on altarpieces and antique frames. Solid timber gives the frame a rigid, stable structure; mouldings are joined with wooden dowels before the surface is finished, eliminating the risk of corners separating over time. Once the surface is prepared, gold leaf is laid sheet by sheet. A standard sheet measures around 80 × 80 mm; on a 40 mm moulding each sheet has to be additionally cut with a specialist knife on a gilding pad — hand work that requires precision and a steady rhythm and cannot be sped up. After gilding, the surface is polished. 23-karat gold is chemically stable and resistant to oxidation, so its reflection does not fade with time. The face and the sides of the frame are finished in the same gold tone, so the frame reads consistently from every angle — important when the mirror is viewed obliquely on a wall.
How this differs from mass production
Off-the-shelf mirrors marketed as "gold frame" mirrors are typically extruded from polyurethane foam or duropolymer and finished with printed foil that imitates metal, or with sprayed metallic paint. There is no solid timber, no real gold, no dowel-joined corner — only a surface meant to look like gold without being gold. This frame is built the opposite way: solid timber, hand-laid 23-karat gold leaf, traditional corner joinery. The depth of the material and the natural shine of polished gold leaf cannot be reproduced with metallic paint. Mirrors from my workshop are available both as wall-hung and as floor-standing pieces, depending on the intended location.
Functionality
The frame is built around solid timber with rigid backing — HDF or MDF, depending on the size — which keeps the panel stable. Wall brackets are pre-fitted to the back of the frame. SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm with OptiWhite glass gives true colour rendering, free of the green tint typical of cheaper mirrors — particularly important in dressing rooms, makeup areas and bathrooms. The mirror visually expands the room and improves the way light is distributed.
Bevel option
A ground bevel up to 20 mm is available — around 5 mm sits inside the frame rebate, around 15 mm remains visible from the front. The bevel adds a subtle line of light along the inner edge of the frame: a discreet detail that visibly improves the optical quality of the mirror.
Demister option
The mirror can be fitted with a heating mat that prevents fogging — recommended for bathrooms with heavy use or limited ventilation. The mat is invisible from the front and connects to a separate switch.
Custom orders
Every mirror is made to measure. Any rectangular dimension is possible, up to 180 cm in height, so proportions can be matched to a specific wall, to existing mouldings, or to an architectural project. Beyond 23K gold, other shades are available: 22K, moon gold 22K, 12K, and white gold 6K — each with a different colour temperature and reflection. Send photos of the interior, material samples or project links and I will prepare a proposal matched to the specific space. Lead time is confirmed individually after the order is placed.
