Mirror in a blue frame made of solid wood, hand-painted in multiple layers and finished with a semi-matte lacquer. SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm OptiWhite mirror glass. Made to measure in a craft workshop.

This mirror in a blue frame, made to measure, is a quietly expressive piece of decorative wall furnishing. The deep, semi-matte blue paired with a subtle stepped moulding profile lets the frame guide the eye toward the reflective surface without overwhelming the room. Each example is built to the customer's chosen dimensions, and the hand-applied paintwork means every piece carries minor variations in brushwork and tone — small signatures of workshop production.

Where it fits

A blue frame works best in rooms where colour is allowed to anchor the composition. It pairs well with modern classic, Scandinavian and Mediterranean interiors, and with art deco-influenced spaces. Off-white, cream, light beige, soft grey, raw wood and linen all sit comfortably alongside this tone. Above a console table or fireplace it becomes a focal accent; in a hallway it lifts a narrow space; in a bedroom it serves above a chest of drawers or beside a dressing table. With the appropriate finish it can also be installed in a bathroom, kept at a sensible distance from direct water.

How it is made

Each example is built in the workshop from high-quality wood. The frame corners are joined with wooden dowels, which keeps the structure stable and resistant to warping over years of use. The moulding pieces are fitted in raw form first; only after the frame is assembled does it move to painting, so the finish runs uninterrupted across the corners.

The blue tone is built up in several brushed layers using a richly pigmented paint range chosen for craft work. The faint brush traces on the surface are a natural feature of hand-painting — not a flaw, but evidence of how the piece was made. After painting, the frame is sealed with a semi-matte lacquer that protects the surface and gives the colour depth. The sides and back of the frame are painted in the same tone as the front, so the piece reads as a single object from any angle. Traditional craft techniques ensure the durability and elegance of every example.

How it differs from mass-produced mirrors

Most serial mirror frames are made from extruded polyurethane foam or duropolymer profiles, wrapped in a wood-print foil or sprayed with metallic paint. Their corners are welded or butt-glued, with no wooden joinery inside. Here, the moulding is solid wood, the corners are joined with dowels, and the colour is built from layered pigment rather than printed film or aerosol paint. The difference is not a claim about how quickly something will break — it is about material, depth of colour and how the piece ages: the surface keeps its texture and does not flake along the moulding edge. The same approach allows the workshop to make wall mirrors and standing mirrors in formats chosen by the customer.

Function

The mirror is hung on wall brackets fitted to an HDF backing (MDF for larger formats). It can be installed vertically or horizontally — orientation depends on the proportions of the chosen format and the location. The SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm OptiWhite glass gives a notably clean reflection, free of the greenish cast typical of standard mirror glass. The black coating on the back of the pane blocks light precisely, which makes it straightforward to install LED strip lighting behind the mirror if desired.

Optional ground bevel

A ground bevel can be added to the 4 mm pane. The bevel is up to 20 mm wide; about 5 mm of that is concealed by the frame rabbet, leaving roughly 15 mm visible. The bevel introduces a subtle refraction along the edge of the glass and emphasises the precision of the workshop finish. It is a detail for those who notice it.

Customisation and made-to-measure orders

Every mirror is built individually. The customer chooses the overall dimensions and the frame colour — over a hundred shades are available, and the blue tone can be matched to a fabric sample, a paint swatch or other pieces in the room. The finish can be changed from semi-matte to matte or gloss, and a more resistant lacquer is used for rooms with higher humidity.
