Solid wood frame, hand-painted in a deep black tone with a soft satin-matt sheen. Classical, clearly sculpted moulding: rounded outer lip, deep central channel, fine groove and narrow bead next to the glass. Mirror made to measure, available in many colours.
A black mirror set in a solid wood frame is a strong, graphic accent — it works like a clearly drawn line in the room, organising the wall and giving it character. The moulding is hand-painted in a deep, soft black with a delicate satin-matt sheen — a saturated, calm tone, far from the cold lacquered black of mass-produced furniture, which keeps the frame elegant rather than harsh. The profiled moulding gives the mirror a classical drawing, while the deep black colour reads as confidently modern. This is a decorative mirror with a distinctive character, made to measure in our workshop, with close attention paid to corner joinery and the evenness of the painted surface. As an interior element it underlines the character of the room and works particularly well in modern interiors built around contrast, rhythm and a clear drawing of detail.
Where it fits
Black decorative mirrors are a confident choice for interiors built around contrast and character — they belong in living rooms styled around modern classic, art deco, industrial, eclectic and loft references, but they also slot easily into calmer Scandinavian and Japandi spaces as a single strong accent. They look at home against walls in shades of white, cream, light grey, terracotta, olive, bottle green, navy or warm beige — anywhere the black frame can draw a clear line and bring order to the composition. In a hallway they introduce a polished, gallery-like tone and bounce daylight; above a console or fireplace in the living room they become a focal point; and in a bathroom — fitted with the optional demister — they bring together everyday function and a touch of hotel-spa luxury. They also suit dining rooms, studies and dressing areas where one strong element is meant to shift the whole feel of the space.

How it is made
The frame is built in our workshop from high-quality solid wood. Corners are joined with wooden dowels, which gives the frame stability and protects it from warping over years of use. The surface is sanded, painted in several layers and smoothed between coats to achieve an even, brush-mark-free black. The deep black tone is rich and softened, and the satin-matt sheen brings out its depth — light catches gently on the surface instead of throwing back hard reflections. The moulding profile is classical and clearly sculpted. The outer edge carries a soft, rounded lip; the centre of the moulding is shaped by a wide, deeply routed channel running parallel to the frame; and right next to the glass there is a fine groove paired with a narrow raised bead. This rhythm of curves and recesses creates a clear play of light and shadow — and on a black finish it reads even more strongly than on white, because every edge is more sharply drawn and casts a deeper shadow. The inner panel and the sides of the frame are painted in the same tone as the front, so the mirror reads as one consistent piece from every angle. Traditional craft techniques ensure the durability and elegance of each individual piece.
How this frame differs from mass production
Unlike frames assembled from off-the-shelf wholesale mouldings, every frame here is built from scratch, to a specific size, for a specific room. The wood is selected, seasoned and worked by hand; the corners are joined with wooden dowels rather than staples or surface glue; and the painting is done in layers with sanding between coats. With black this matters even more than with lighter colours: dark tones are unforgiving and reveal every imperfection, so the number of coats and the care taken in sanding between them decide whether the surface looks deep and even or simply messy. The result is a frame that does not split at the joints, does not lose its colour and does not start to move with time. It is a craft approach that runs through the whole workshop — wall mirrors, free-standing mirrors and modern bathroom mirrors all go through the same stages of work and finishing.
Functionality
The mirror can be hung vertically or horizontally — please specify the orientation when ordering. The backing is made of MDF, which protects the glass from behind and stiffens the structure. The glass itself is SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm OptiWhite, with a low iron-oxide content, which gives a natural reflection without the greenish cast typical of standard mirrors. The back of the glass carries an additional black coating that fully blocks light from passing through — useful when the mirror is intended to be installed with backlighting behind it. The mirror is hung using wall brackets fitted to the back of the frame.
Option: mirror with a bevel
On request, the glass can be ground with a bevel up to 20 mm wide. Part of the bevel is hidden inside the rebate of the frame, so what remains visible is a discreet, decorative edge that softly catches the light and adds depth to the reflection. Combined with the black frame, the bevel creates a striking, understated highlight running around the perimeter of the mirror.
Optional: anti-fog mirror with heating mat
If the mirror is destined for a bathroom, it can be fitted with a heating mat that prevents condensation forming on the glass. The mat is invisible from the front, mounted between the glass and the backing. To add this option, simply mention it with the size when ordering — it will be added to the product page and the list of available variants.
Optional: LED backlight behind the mirror
The SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant glass has a black coating on its back that cleanly blocks any light from passing through, which makes this mirror well suited for installation with an LED strip behind the frame. The result is a soft, even halo of light around the mirror (a backlight effect). Paired with the black frame the effect is particularly striking — a thin line of warm light traces the dark, sharply drawn edge of the moulding, which works especially well in bathrooms, dressing rooms and above hallway consoles. To add this option, simply select it when ordering — we will prepare the frame with space pre-built for the LED strip and cabling.
Personalisation and made-to-measure orders
Every mirror is built for a specific order, so the size, finish colour and glass variant can all be adapted to your interior. Deep satin-matt black is the standard version here, but the frame can be finished in almost any other shade from our in-house range of highly pigmented, craft-character paints — from soft warm beiges, creams and greys, through deep greens, navies and bottle tones, all the way to bold accent colours. You can also choose between a bevelled or plain glass, add the demister option for bathrooms, or have the frame prepared for an LED backlight. Standard lead time and the availability of a particular size are agreed individually — just get in touch by email or phone with a brief description of what you need, and, if helpful, a photo of the inspiration, a colour reference, or the spot where the mirror will hang.
