Solid wood frame, hand-painted black and finished in high gloss. SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm OptiWhite glass. Decorative mirror made to measure.

A black high-gloss frame is a striking feature that adds depth and a contemporary edge to any interior. The lacquered surface reflects light almost as fluently as the mirror glass itself, while the shaped moulding draws a confident, graphic line around the reflection. This decorative mirror is made to measure and works as a wall mirror in living rooms, bedrooms, hallways and bathrooms — and in larger formats also as a freestanding floor mirror, becoming a sculptural accent in modern interiors. The contrast of deep black and shifting reflections gives the room real character.

Where it fits

A black high-gloss mirror works best in contemporary, glamour, art déco and minimalist interiors. It pairs beautifully with walls in light, neutral tones — white, cream, warm grey, beige — where the black frame builds a sharp, defining contrast. It looks equally striking against deep wall colours such as forest green, navy, charcoal or burgundy, where it ties the composition together with a single, dramatic gesture.

In a living room it sits well above a console, fireplace or sideboard. In a bedroom it makes a confident statement above a vanity or inside a walk-in wardrobe. In a hallway, the full-length format gives you a final check before leaving and visually expands the space. The high-gloss lacquer is moisture-resistant, so the mirror is also at home in the bathroom — both minimalist and more decorative, glamour-styled ones.

How it is made

Every frame is built in my workshop using traditional joinery. The corners are joined with wooden dowels, which keeps the structure stable and resistant to warping over years of use. The wood is then hand-sanded, painted in successive coats and polished to a deep, mirror-like shine. The whole frame is sealed with a high-quality, moisture-resistant lacquer.

The moulding has a softly rounded, undulating profile that catches light along its full length — clearly visible in daylight, when reflections travel along the edge of the frame. The panel and the sides of the frame are painted in the same black lacquer as the front, so the mirror reads as a coherent object from every angle. Traditional craft techniques give every piece its durability and quiet elegance.

How it differs from mass production

Mass-produced frames are usually glued from thin elements, spray-painted on a line and packed without close inspection. This frame is built differently. Solid wood, dowel joints in the corners, multiple coats of lacquer and hand polishing are processes that cannot be rushed or automated. Each frame is checked individually — and you can see it in the quality of the edges, the evenness of the gloss, and the way light moves along the moulding profile.

The collection includes both wall mirrors and freestanding floor mirrors in a range of formats — all made to order, using the same techniques and the same attention to detail.

Functionality

The mirror comes with sturdy wall brackets attached to an MDF back panel, which reinforces the structure and protects the glass from behind. The mounting allows for both portrait and landscape orientation. The SGG Miralite® Pure Diamant 4 mm OptiWhite glass has a low iron oxide content, which gives a clean, true-to-life reflection without the greenish tint typical of standard mirrors. The high-gloss lacquer is moisture-resistant and performs reliably in everyday bathroom conditions.

Option: bevelled mirror

On request, I can prepare the glass with a ground bevel up to 20 mm wide. The bevel adds character and gently refracts light along the edge, emphasising the decorative dimension of the piece — particularly striking against the deep black, glossy frame.

Add-on: anti-fog heating mat

For mirrors intended for the bathroom, an anti-fog heating mat can be installed behind the glass. The mat warms the surface so the mirror does not steam up, even after a long, hot shower. It is particularly useful in windowless bathrooms and for anyone who values everyday comfort.

Made to measure and personalisation

Every mirror is built individually, to order. You can choose the outer dimensions from the available list or send a request with your own size — I will make the mirror to fit your space exactly. The moulding width and depth stay the same, so the proportions of the frame remain consistent across formats.

Beyond high-gloss black, the same frame can be ordered in a different colour and a different sheen — from full gloss, through satin, to deep matt. I work with a curated range of highly pigmented, craft-character paints, which means the frame can be matched closely to a specific interior. If you have a reference — a wall colour, a piece of furniture, an interior photo — send it with your enquiry and I will match the finish as closely as possible. Lead time is confirmed individually after the order is placed.
